What is a Flexihome mobile home unit ? A towable relocatable instant accommodation solution. Fully registrable country wide but designed to be more like a residential unit, than a caravan.
What is a Flexihome caravan ? A smaller, lighter touring version of the flexihome mobile home unit.
Do I need council planning permission to place a Flexihome unit on my land ? Not normally, but this is subject to individual area councils interpretation and varies from state to state and even council to council, so please take time to check with your local authority. The Flexihome mobile home unit generally has a greater floor area than that of a caravan, but is still classed as a caravan for towing and siting purposes. The units can be legally sited anywhere a caravan can be..... under normal circumstances, the units don't normally need a building construction permit, as they fall outside the remit of building regulations, but take time to check this out, to satisfy yourself in your particular situation, as to what you need to do to comply.
How long does a Flexihome unit take to set up on-site ? Generally takes one person less than an hour to set up a Flexihome unit on your site ready for you to move in.
What makes a Flexihome mobile home unit or caravan better alternative to an ordinary caravan ? The design of the Flexihome unit gives you a much bigger open areas with full height ceilings over 2.15m. Far better layout and design than a cluttered caravan. No fixed seating in the lounge area mean you can set it up as you like, and you get one or two completely separate bedrooms, and a proper domestic kitchen and large shower bathroom.
Why would I consider a Flexihome unit over an alternative re-locatable home ? There are several reasons why you might consider; 1) You do not want the delays and hassle in applying for the standard building construction permits, required for any normal, permanent unit that is not road registered. 2) Your land is in a flood prone area and only towable, registered structures are permitted (this is becoming increasingly asked for by parks and authorities) Also the unit can be just hooked up and moved away within an hour should floods be declared imminent. 3) You want a quality, comfortable home that can be easily delivered to site and then just as easily be relocated again should your circumstance change or you just want a change of location. 4) You want a high quality, domestic grade accommodation, offering unmatched value for money.
What materials are used to build a Flexihome unit ? Your Flexihome unit is highly engineered and craftsman built structure designed to last using high grade galvanised steel and aircraft grade aluminium for the frames, water resistant hardwood ply or aluminium plate for the floors. One piece custom made fibreglass roof panels with no joins to leak. All kitchen and bathroom and interior fittings and windows etc are local Australian sourced. High in quality and normal domestic grade like you would get in a house, not cheap, light caravan based products, mainly imported, which soon leak and fall to bits.
Do Flexihome units come complete with Kitchen and Bathroom ? Yes, they are all supplied with a full size but compact kitchen with full size stove if requested and a full size bathroom with a full size 1 meter wide shower, all normal quality domestic grade.
Are Flexihome units insulated ? Yes, they have 50 year guaranteed insulated vinyl wall cladding and a composite one piece, polyurethane insulated fully hail resistant composite fibreglass roof.
What about air conditioning ? All Flexihome units can be specified with a roof mounted Dometic 3.5kw reverse cycle air-conditioner or we can provide an outside, weatherproof electrical socket, to connect your locally installed split system.
How is the water and waste connected ? Your Flexihome unit comes fully plumbed internally, all you have to do onsite is connect a drinking water hose to the water inlet and another hose or solid waste pipe from the existing waste outlets supplied under the units to the sewer or septic tank.
What Toilet options are there ? There are several toilet options depending on intended site waste facilities: 1. Standard domestic. 2. Chemical with external water tank fill and waste tank extraction. 3. Standard toilet with macerator built in. (discharges up to to 60m away level, through a 25mm diameter waste pipe. It can be up hill to the waste point ) 4. Composting toilet, needs no water or waste pipe. See: http://www.abetterwaytogo.com.au/products/airhead.aspx 5. Electric Incinerator toilet. A few makes available but expensive
How is the power connected ? Your Flexihome unit is fully wired complete with safety switch circuit RCD breakers, all you have to do is connect a 15 amp power extension lead to the power inlet plug. The unit is supplied fully tested and with an electrical safety certificate.
Are floor coverings and light fittings included in the price ? Yes, the units have top quality cushion floor vinyl in the all areas to customers extensive choice of pattern and texture. Light fittings are Australian supplied Clipsal diffused battens, which reduce load on the power supply.
Is specialized or expensive transport equipment required to transport a Flexihome unit ? No, specialized or expensive transport equipment is not required. You can even transport them yourself using a large ute or medium to large 4WD. This form of transport leaves the unit just where you need it......not the nearest the tilt tray could get and then your faced with moving it into place and setting it up yourself.
How heavy to tow are they ? The tare weight of your Flexihome unit is approximate 2400 kg for the 9m unit. Heavier or lighter depending on length and interior inclusions.
Can I tour with it ? Yes.... the Flexihome mobile home units are more than usable for this purpose, especially the shorter and therefore lighter units. They are more suited to long stay caravanning with stays in tourist sites, than off road or free camping. Particularly suited for "Grey Nomads" with extended stays in tourist parks on a long trip round Oz, due to the units more homely design and feel. If your using solely as a touring caravan then the smaller Flexihome open plan caravans are the better option.
Is there a choice of colours available ? Yes, there is a choice of colours for the exterior cladding, window and door frames and exterior trim.
Can I customize the design of my Flexihome unit ? Yes, you can make small changes to floor plan layout within the parameters of standard design and core structural integrity.... have it how you want !
What is the resale value of Flexihome units like ? The resale value is excellent, because all Flexihome units are well built to high standards, and have a long service life. There is always a willing market for these units second hand.
How long do they take to build ? In most case we can have your Flexihome unit built in about 5 to 6 weeks. It may take longer if we have many previous orders in the schedule prior to yours when you decide to go ahead. We appreciated as much advance notice on placing an order, to allocate you a build slot that enables us to hopefully accommodate your time scale.
Do you deliver ? Yes, delivery can be arranged Australia wide and is distance dependant. We will quote you and let you decide.
Does warranty come with my Flexihome unit ? Yes, warranty applies to your purchase, for one year private use and 6 months commercial park use. The appliances such as aircon and fridge and hood, if fitted, are covered by the manufacturers warranty, and details of the warranty and their contact info are in the appliance info left in the drawers of the unit on delivery or collection.
I like what I see, what is my next step ? It is as easy as speaking to one of our staff, who can arrange for you to inspect a display Flexihome unit at the factory. You can discuss your specific requirements and intended purpose or site location. After you decide the details on which model best suits you, and which colours and kitchen layout etc, a deposit confirms your order, and we allocate you a slot in our build schedule. You can inspect the unit prior to it leaving the workshop, if you require delivery and set up on site, or you can just collect ex factory with a suitable vehicle and tow experience of large trailers.

5.8, 7, 8, or 9m are the standard length units available, but any length and layout under can also be accommodated.
The units can be road registered and are all towable, so classed as a movable, non permanent structure. The units have been designed to have more of the look and feel of a permanent dwelling, then any other form of towable structure. They are more like a small apartment rather than the equivalent length cluttered caravan.
Your unit can be towed to your site using our trade plate, so no registration is actually necessary if it's staying in one place. It just needs to be registrable, and therefore conform to all Australian road legal requirements. It is classed as a caravan for siting purposes.
Consideration must be given on existing home lot, or granny flat situations etc, as all other forms of units that sit directly on the ground, and cannot be road registered, will certainly require full planning permission, and it will be very costly and difficult to obtain..... In most cases impossible.
Flexihome units are allowable on any residential park, tourist park, and generally, anywhere you can legally site a caravan, for ancillary accommodation or granny flats. However, the rules are interpreted differently from state to state and area to area within that state, so please take time and care to satisfy yourself as to the local requirements for your intended use.
Our standard units are ideal for high quality residential accommodation for singles or couples, on a permanent rural sites, or granny flat on a home lot, subject to local regulations being met.
Also ideal for commercial applications, such as office and storage, road camps, and worker accommodation. (all intended uses may be subject to local approval)
Designed and built on the Gold Coast to be more like a small domestic apartment, but having the road towable and registerable advantages.
We can register the unit with Qld number plates if required, or we can just deliver on our trailer trade plate if staying in one place. All units come with a VIN / Compliance plate regardless of whether you require the unit to be registered.
The unit can be self towed to site with a medium or large 4x4, and easily moved on after as it only weighs 2.8 tonnes based on an 9m unit, smaller open plan units much less
Superb high quality build and finish. Standard or custom build. Value for money and convenience that can't be matched.
